Lion Paauwe

Lion is the global Operations Director for IAGs GBS organization. Recently he was responsible for the successful move of the transactional finance activities from one outsource service provider to another one. Lion has been defining the strategy for finance shared services including the (intelligent) automation and operational excellence roadmap. He started a transformation program for GBS operations to become better prepared for the future, aiming towards highly touchless end-to-end processes, real-time business insights, ultimate customer experience and high performing teams. In 2017 he led the location study for Signify’s finance footprint and in a greenfield approach he has been established their centre in Łódź, Poland. This centre executed non-transactional, decision-based activities, as well as supporting the planning, budgeting and forecasting processes while transactional activities were performed by an outsource service provider. Lion ensured a solid and smooth transfer of knowledge, and embedded a focus on end-to-end process improvement, standardization and continuous improvement. Lion joined Philips in 2005 and has been instrumental in the development of finance shared services since 2007. He contributed to the outsourcing of its transactional Shared Services Centers, designing, and subsequently optimising, the process blueprint between captive and outsourced centres. He designed and improved the service delivery model and the Finance footprint strategy. He has over 25 years of experience, and has worked in various senior roles (Operations, Transformation, Strategy, Finance, Global Process Ownership, Outsourcing) within the Shared Services and Outsourcing Industry, in captive as well as FAO, HRO and ITO environments.
