VP, Compliance and Transformation Gannett
April Russo is a seasoned finance and accounting executive with over 25 years of experience in global business operations, financial and managerial accounting, and finance transformation. She is currently Vice President of Compliance and Transformation for Gannett’s Global Shared Services organization. April is responsible for proactively monitoring and evaluating the control environment, identifying and rectifying control deficiencies, leading internal control rationalization efforts, and designing controls to fit Gannett’s future state operating model. She also leads the execution of strategic change initiatives, proactively identifying opportunities for operational efficiency, developing the business case for change, and ensuring achievement of anticipated outcomes. Prior to Gannett, April provided management advisory services to Fortune 500 and mid-sized global clients as an independent consultant and served as Vice President and Assistant Controller of Global Shared Services at AOL. As Assistant Controller, April was not only responsible for building a shared services organization across the globe, but also standardizing end-to-end processes in the Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay and Record-to-Report accounting and treasury functions. She managed M&A integration and divestitures for the Controller's organization as well as the business process outsourcing relationship. April’s experience includes consulting and management of client engagements prior to AOL as well. She is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Virginia, a Chartered Global Management Accountant, and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from The College of William & Mary.
