Arthur Riel has 40 years experience in numerous facets of the IT Industry including software engineering, application architecture, enterprise architecture, project/program management, IT strategy development, large scale digital transformations and executive leadership. Arthur has an entrepreneurial spirit resulting in the creation of two companies: an IT training business during the first 10 years of his career and an email archiving company acquired by Atempo in 2008. Arthur leveraged his entrepreneurial experience to launch MassMutual’s first Global Capability Centers in India and Romania, MassMutual India and MassMutual Romania. In a 4 year period the three centers grew to 2600 IT and BPO staff and contractors (80/20%). Arthur’s prior experience in outsourcing includes working with the World Bank to expand their 70 staff in Chennai to a 2,200 IT and BPO strategic organization that saw the development of 850 IT positions as well as 1350 BPO staff carrying out most of the back-office processing for the World Bank. At Morgan Stanley he was the first to leverage an 80-person development team in Spain (Galleon Software SA), and partnered with Compuware to expand their near shore center in Montreal Canada. The latter grew to 450 personnel and was brought into Morgan Stanley. Arthur is experienced in many domains and has considerable experience in financial services (front and back office) and Insurance from his 25+ combined years working on Wall Street, the World Bank and MassMutual. Arthur is comfortable managing technology in high pressure environments such as Investment Banks (Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs) as well as public sector organizations such as the World Bank. Arthur has managed teams as large as 3500 staff/contractors with budgets as large as $700m. In his most current role, he was managing 2900 staff and contractors (75% staff). Arthur is highly skilled at increasing team productivity while sharply reducing costs using a variety of strategies.
