Head of Global of Business Services AGFA

Marcel is Dutch and has a long career in finance and accounting. In March 1, 2021, Marcel joined Agfa as Head of the Global Financial Services organization (GFS). Since August 2023, Marcel was appointed as Head of Global Business Services (GBS) The GBS organization clustered the activities of Global Financial Services, Customer Operations and GBS Data, Technology & Automation. The objective of GBS is to organize Agfa’s processes from an end-to-end perspective, focusing on standardization, single technology platforms & automation, scalability, and coherence across the organization.

Prior to AGFA, Marcel joined Etex in 1998. At this international building materials company, he held several functions in Finance and Shared Services. In 2017, Marcel became the Head of Etex’ s Global Shared Services Organization, which provides finance, payroll and procurement services, with a focus on enhancing the quality, customer satisfaction and employee engagement.

11:30 AM Celebrating a Strong Partnership: AGFA´s GBS Collaboration with IBM!

AGFA started its GBS journey in 2021 with IBM in a Consult to Operate partnership, that started with process maturity assessment and transformation roadmaps for F&A, FP&A, HR, Customer Operations. Based on that roadmap, AGFA and IBM partnered to a new operating model that included service delivery for E2E Finances, an RPA factory and other GBS projects.  In our sessions we will present the following key success factors:

 

  • How AGFA established trust and the partnership with IBM
  • How we gathered the initial insights on what needed to change to improve the GBS performance and “climb the mountain” to best practice performance
  • Co-creating the operating model and supporting it with a committed business case and successful quick wins
  • IBM and AGFA created an open forum that constantly challenged the status quo and fosters thought leadership, expertise and innovation that is responsible for continuous improvement of the E2E scope of the Finance operations
  • Applying a focused change strategy against precise changes to impacted stakeholders
  • Highly structured frameworks and stage gates on transition and transformation to execute and effectively manage risks
  • Detailed attention to relevant performance and measuring & reporting to show delivery metrics baseline and ongoing improvements
  • An excellent governance cadence delivered in a consistent (and informative) manner.
