In the past, sourcing strategies depended on economies of scale. Today it is all about "economies of skill" says Peter Allen. This is because the "scale" element has really become a commodity. What is important today is leveraging skill sets. On innovation, he says, it's not a deliverable it's a way of life. If you could define innovation it would be in a contract, says Allen.
