We all know that a great employee experience (EX) is vital, but often EX initiatives are relegated to yearly "away days" or monthly prize giving. Creating an end-to-end, hire-to-retire employee engagement is another matter altogether, and requires commitment, resources, and structure. Although initially time-consuming, having a dedicated EX plan reaps enormous benefits in obvious ways (such as reduction in attrition, and increase in productivity) and more obscure ways (such as increased customer loyalty and sales).

Ahead of her highly anticipated panel discussion on Talent Optimization: Elevating Your Employees’ End-to-End Journey to Keep Them Energized, Productive and In the Seat, we asked Beverly Adams-Caine, Senior Manager, ESS Operations and Governance, Entergy for her quick-fire tips to nourish talent retention and employee experience.

  • How do you elevate employees’ end-to-end journey to keep them energized and productive?

Communication is the key to keeping employees engaged from hire to retire. This starts with the official letter to the onboarding to first day in the office. The ESS team has created a committee to focus on onboarding and assigning new employees a buddy to facilitate their “first day”.

  • How do you forge a workplace culture that nurtures talent retention and development?

Our organization has developed a committee focused on “Onboard and Development”. The purpose of the committee is to onboard, train, and develop employees Shared Services employees. The committee works with employees to identify ways to create a culture in which new or current employees find fulfilment by scheduling activities and training opportunity for the team. The team seeks feedback from employees to capture opportunities to improve the work environment.

  • What’s the best way to instill a profound sense of purpose and fulfillment?

Establishing goals that align with the company’s vision and mission and individual development plans for employees to invest the employee’s continuous improvement.

  • What are you looking forward to most about coming to Shared Services & Outsourcing Week?

Having the ability to network with peers about new initiatives and processes.
