A 2021 Microsoft survey reports that 55% of all employees consider the work environment in their decisions to either switch jobs or return to an office. Meanwhile 43% of remote workers do not feel included in meetings and only 27% of leaders say their company has developed hybrid meeting etiquette.

The workplace as we knew it does not exist anymore. After working from home for the past two years, employees have high standards for what will bring them back into the office. Many employees have started new jobs and may have never set foot on company premises. A recent McKinsey study showed that employees are concerned about well-being, flexibility and work-life balance more than ever before. As offices open back up, organizations are asking themselves: how can the workplace – whether it’s in-office, remote or hybrid- provide a modern employee experience? What does it mean for employees to gather in person to communicate, collaborate, and create? How can organizations create a sense of belonging and office culture for remote workers?

Ahead of the in-person Future Offices event happening this August 8-11 in San Diego, we’re hosting the Future Offices launch party. This short virtual webinar is just a sampler of what to expect at the live event and starts with the question: what do employees want from the modern workspace?

Adam Panucci
Director, Culture & Change
California Resources Corporation

Adam Panucci was born and raised in Wisconsin but has been an Angeleno since 2006. He entered college as a Physics major but pivoted his junior year and received an BA in English from the University of Wisconsin-Madison followed by a Masters in Teaching and Curriculum from Harvard University. Looking back, his schooling exemplifies two fundamental qualities that inspire him: finding creative solutions within a structure, and the importance of being curious to create a thriving learning organization. Adam is now the Director of Culture and Change at California Resources Corporation. He joined Occidental Petroleum Corporation in the Human Resources function two years before CRC was spun off to become its own publicly-traded company. That spinoff accelerated the need to focus on organizational culture and enact change. But how does one transform a traditional culture as the ground underfoot continually shifts? Over the next seven years, Adam was allowed to experiment with different strategies and tactics with support (and cover) from his amazing boss and mentor. Ultimately, in addition to helping the company evolve, through the many changes he became a problem solver who is creative yet realistic and utilizes communication and storytelling to help leaders articulate a vision and bring others with them.
